I suspect that the earliest generations are related to the earliest generations of WHITE I descend on. My ancestors are on www.irishgenealogy.com/white.htm
One of the best WHITE research websites with many links to other WHITE websites is:
http://www.netpathway.com/~bennie/index.html
352 pages, 6 x 9", hardcover, acid free paper, illustrations, photographs, indexed.
Two young brothers Moses and Hugh White came to America from the British Isles. The family was part of the great Scotch-Irish immigration to America.
A number of descendants of Moses White removed to North Carolina and have been called "the Alamance", "the Chatham" and "the Anson" Whites. Two governors of North Carolina: W. Kerr Scott and Robert W. Scott were descendants from these families.
Hugh White's descendants migrated to North Carolina settling in the Rowan/Iredell area some going to Tennessee where one founded the city of Knoxville. Hugh White's son Henry settled in the Waxhaws section (now Lancaster County) SC.
Some of the names included in this book: Adams, Allen, Arndt, Beaty, Boykin, Caldwell, Cambell (probably should be CAMPBELL?), Carnes, Chambers, Clawson, Close, Crawford, Crockett, Culp, Daniels, Doby, Drennan, Dunlap, Fennell, Foster, Gill, Hanna, Jackson, Jordan, Lesesne, McCaskill, McCorkle, McFadden, Massey, Miller, Mims, Mock, Moore, Morrow, Neely, Nims, Nisbet, Owen, Patton, Peden, Phifer, Pittman, Rankin, Revels, Robinson, Roddey, Scott, Shillinglaw, Simpson, Spratt, Springs, Storey, Sutton, Thomas, Walkup, White, Williams, Williamson, Witherspoon, Wylie and others.

22 Sep 2000 - I'm rethinking whether I might connect with this line. So I am posting several messages that seem related to it here, so I can highlight and share them with others by email as we sort it out.
Notes for GENERAL JAMES WHITE (not my James WHITE):
"Revolutionary hero and the founder of Knoxville General James White had
very strong Scotch-Irish blood in his veins. His people - of
the Campbell clan - had originally lived at Inverarary and
Lochgoilhead in Argyllshire on the western lowlands of Scotland and it was
his grandfather Moses White who moved to County Londonderry with his wife Mary
Campbell in the later part of the 17th century.
They had seven children, one of them Moses White, Jr. (James White's father),
who was to leave Ireland in 1741 and settle in Lancaster
County, Pennsylvania.

I didn't research the line below, see messages below it. The similarities to my line on http://www.irishgenealogy.com/white.htm are:
1) CAMPBELL maternal ancestors of WHITEs in 1600s-1700s
2) GIBSON marriages
3) Location & Time: especially Lancaster County, PA
