David CAMPBELL and Ann REA are the subjects of the above book. Their son Rea Campbell (1823-1867) married Jane Ann White (1832-1925), his second wife, in 1848. She is the daughter of James Morrow White, son of Jacob White, son of James White, son of William White. These families are closely inter-related with CAMPBELL, LYLE, REA and WHITE. Close cousins to the Marquis family are the wives of President Bejamin Harrison, Caroline Lavinia Scott Harrison, the First President General of the D.A.R. and her niece, Mary Scott Dimmock Harrison.

[971 MARQUIS, THOMAS ALEXANDER, (6), born in Washington Co,, Pa. on April 7, 1830 and married on Jan.31, 1856 in Washington Co., Pa,, MARTHA JANE McCONAUGHY, who was born in Washington Co., Pa. in 1834 and died in Aledo, Mercer Co., Ill on March 13, 1892, the daughter of Hugh McConaughy (1786-1874) and Isabella Walker (1793-1874). Thomas and Martha resided at Davenport, Iowa and moved to Aledo, Ill. in 1857, where they purchased a farm near Aledo. Thomas died in Aledo, Ill. on Jan.17, 1893, age 63 and is buried in Aledo Cemetery, Aledo, Ill., the son of Thomas Marquis and Sarah Anne Lyle.

160. I. CHAUNCEY K., born in Davenport, Iowa on Nov.24, 1856 and married in Keithsburg, Mercer Co., III. on Nov.17, 1886, Martha Evans. He died in Aledo, Ill. on Jan.22, 1921 and is buried in Aledo Cemetery.

161. II. GRANT, born Nov. 2, 1858, and married on March 26, 1889, Laura Brown. He died on his farm in Aledo, Ill. on Feb.27, 1928 and is buried in Aledo Cemetery.

162. III. ABRAHAM LINCOLN, born Jan. 9, 1860 on "the farm" in Aledo, Ill. and married on April 6, 1892, Mary Bess Killey, he died May 17, 1938 in Portland, Ore. and is buried at Riverview Abbey, Portland, Ore.

163. IV. HERBERT, born Oct. 9, 1861 on the farm near Aledo, Ill. and died Feb. 4, 1911 at Oakland, Calif. and is buried in Aledo Cemetery.

164. V. BABY(a son), born April 26, 1864 and died May 27, 1864, on the farm and buried at Aledo Cemetery.

165. VI. FRED, born on the farm near Aledo, Ill. on Sept. 9, 1865 and married on Nov. 6, 1895, Jessie Anna Brock, he died May 30, 1927, Onawa, Iowa. He is buried in Aledo Cemetery.

166. VII. BIRD, born on the farm near Aledo, Ill. on Oct.10, 1867 and married on Oct.23, 1895 in Aledo,

Ill. Frank P. Strattan. She died in Corning, Tehma Co., Calif. on March 6, 1946 and is buried at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Corning, Cal if.

167. VIII. HUGH McCONAUGHY, born on the farm near Aledo, Ill. on July 31, 1871 and married in Los Angeles, Calif. on March 5, 1908 Annesley Sayre, he died on Dec.12, 1915 and is buried in Los Angeles, Calif.

168. IX. ROBERT (ROBB) LYLE, D.D.S., born on the farm near Aledo, Ill. on Aug, 29, 1874 and married at Burlington, Iowa on Dec.27, 1899, Laura John O'Neal. He died at Berwyn, Cook Co., III. on Aug. 7, 1935.

98. MARQUIS, SAMUEL LYLE, (6), born in Washington Co., Pa. on Sept. 2, 1832 and married in Aledo, Ill. on Nov.17, 1866, ANNE SIGNOR, who was born in Belleville, Mufflin Co., Pa. on Jan.28, 1848 and died in Buffalo Prarie, Ill. on March 21, 1913, she is buried in Aledo Cemetery, Aledo, Ill. Samuel died in Aledo, Ill. on April 27, 1902 and is buried in Aledo Cemetery. He was the son of Thomas Marquis and Sarah Ann Lyle.

169. I. JAMES LORELLE, born on Sept.25, 1867 and married on Dec. 3, 1894, Alda Murphy in Aledo, Ill. and died Feb. 6, 1900 and is buried in Aledo Cemetery.

170. II. DAPHCELIA, born in Aledo, Ill. on Feb.26, 1870, never married, and died in Buffalo Prarie, Ill. on June 6, 1918 and is buried in Aledo Cemetery.

171. III. BENJAMIN VANCE, M.D., born in Aledo, Ill. on Oct.14, 1872 and married on Oct.26, 1910, Mary Shriever, he diedin Buffalo Prarie, Ill. Feb.13, 1954 and is buried in Aledo Cemetery.

172. IV. KATHERINE, born in Aledo, Mercer Co., Ill. on Sept.11, 1875 and married in Buffalo Prarie, Ill. on May 5, 1905, Leonard Kistler, who was born March 30, 1880 in Buffalo Prarie, Ill. and died in Hamlet, Ill. on Dec. 7, 1939. She died in Redwood Falls, Redwood Co., Minn. on June 29, 1929.

173. V. CAROLINE, born June28, 1880 and married in Rock Island, III. on May 17, 1905, Frank Childs, she died in Aledo, Ill. on Feb. 7, 1959 and is buried in Aledo Cemetery.

174. VI. MAYNARD MAIN DDS born in Aledo, Ill on Sept.22, 1882 and married in Keithsburg, Mercer Co., III. on Sept. 2, 1908, Elizabeth Thornton, he died in Aledo, Ill. on Sept, 7, 1965 and is buried in Millersburg Cemetery

175. VII. LOUISE, born in Aledo, Ill. in 1883 and died in Redwood Falls, Minn. in 1927 and was buried in Aledo Cemetery, she never married.

[102] MARQUIS, MARTHA JANE, (6), born in Hickory, Washington Co., Pa. on Jan. 2, 1847 and married on Sept.21, 1870 ALEXANDER GOUDY ROBB, who was born in Washington Co., Pa. on Sept.24, 1843 and died Feb.18, 1923 on a ship and was buried at sea, near the Azores, on his return from a visit with his son, Newell Lyle Robb, who studied voice in Germany, France, and Italy. Martha died in Aledo, Ill. on Sept, 9, 1909. She was the daughter of Thomas Marquis and Sarah Ann LVie, CHILDREN

176. I. MARQUIS LINCOLN, born in Viola, Mercer Co., III. on Aug.29, 1871 and married (1) Elizabeth DeGrummed in 1905 whom he divorced in 1909, he married (2) Antonietta Bernadina Doelman in Lima, Peru on May 15, 1915. He died in Tampa, Fla, on Sept, 1, 1955.

178. III. NORMAN KING, born in Viola, Mercer Co., Ill. on Nov. 8, 1876 and married (1) Mabel LucIa Smith on Nov.17, 1903 in Chicago, III., who was born in Chippewa Falls, Wis. on Jan. 6, 1885 and died July 8, 1948 in Ruidosa, Lincoln Co., New Mexico and was buried in El Paso, Texas. He married (2) Mrs. Gladys Tuttle Wall on May 11, 1950 in Houston, Texas. He died in Houston, Harris Co., Texas on March 27, 1957. He had no children.

179. IV. ENA FOX, born in Viola, Mercer Co., III. on April 13, 1879, never married and now resides in Washington, D.C.

180. V. NEWELL LYLE, born in Galva, McPherson Co., Kansas on May 11, 1881 and died following an auto accident in Tampa, Fla. on Jan.28, 1947. He never married and is buried in Orange Hill Cemetery, Tampa, Fla.

181. VI. JULIA CHERRY, married J.R. de Grummond, who died in 1944, in 1969, at age 86 she was last heard of visiting her son in the Canal Zone.

[103] MARQUIS, ETHEL CAROLINE, (6), born in Hickory, Washington Co., Pa. on Nov, 8, 1850 and married on May 4, 1870, JAMES GOE DURNING, who was born in Washington Co., Pa. on Aug. 3, 1844 or 1845 and died in Aledo, III, on May 31, 1909. She died in Aledo, III, on July 7, 1934 and both are buried in Aledo Cemetery. She was the daughter of Thomas Marquis and Sarah Ann Lyle.

182. I. HUGH, born in Aledo, III. on Dec.22, 1871, was unmarried and an Attorney, and died on Dec. 8, 1923 in Aledo, Ill. and is buried in Aledo Cemetery.

183. II. JUANITA, born in Aledo, III. on Dec.28, 1873 and married;in Aledo, III. on Feb. 5, 1904, Benjamin S. Vincent, she died in Spokane, Wash. on Oct.27, 1966 and is buried at Fairmont Memorial Park.

184. III. MAUDE, born in Aledo, Ill. on Aug.26, 1876 and married in Aledo, Ill. on May 4, 1898, Samuel Thomas Evans, she died in Littleton, Arapahoe Co., Cob. on April 28, 1964 and is buried in Littleton Cemetery.

185. IV. ST. CLAIR (Ted), born in Aledo, Ill. on Jan.29, 1883 and married on Jan.30, 1904 (1) Alice Mannon, he married in Princeton, III. on April 8, 1914 (2) May Bivens.
