My MALOWNEY/MALONEY ancestors spelling variations:

John MALOWNEY/MALONEY's (1816-1911) last name was sometimes spelled MALOWNEY and sometimes MALONEY. It's not surprising that his death certificate listed his father as "Isaac MALONEY" when his name was also listed as "John MALONEY."

My great-great-great grandfather, Isaac MALONEY was the father of John MALOWNEY/MALONEY and Dennis MALONEY. This Isaac MALOWNEY would have been born in the late 1700s in Ireland. Thus the challenges of researching Irish records in the late 1700s sink in.

I am unaware of records for my great-grandfather, Isaac MALOWNEY that spell his last name differently than MALOWNEY. However different records for Isaac's father, John MALOWNEY/MALONEY (1816-1911) have his last name as MALONEY or MALOWNEY.  Records for Isaac's uncle, Dennis MALONEY (born about 1815) and his descendents spell the name MALONEY.

Both John and Dennis named a son Isaac. I also found reference to another Isaac MALOWNEY:

Isaac MALOWNEY, M-W-49, 1870 census, born Pennsylvania, Bucks County, PA Doylestown Twp, M/F Roll 1313 P171 (he was the only MALOWNEY on this census sheet which looked like a list of recent immigrants from Ireland. Bucks County is in Eastern PA. Also, if this Isaac MALOWNEY was 49 years old in the 1870 census, he would be closer in age to John and Dennis. So he could be a younger brother or a cousin.

MALOWNY, Catherine, 275
MALOWNY, Charles, 275 could this be the same Charles MALOWNY from second source:
MALOWNY, Charles, Ballyhagin, 1713 will probated, Index to Irish Wills V. 1, 941.5, P54.5

-----------------, Walter, 275, could he be Walter Weldon MALOWNY m. SPELLISSY listed below?
Source: Registry of Deeds, Dublin Abstracts of Wills, Vol. 1, 1708-45 I would assume John, Nicholas and Walter were sons of Edmd or listed in his Will since MALOWNEY was spelled out for the two entries above him but there was a line under Edmund Malowny for next 3.

MALOWNY, Walter Weldon married Miss SPELLISSY at Limerick, Jan 1795, index number 96, page 295 Hibernian Mazazine (LDS-LA)
